Funding guidance

Trustees are interested in supporting a diverse range of charities which support older people, from large institutions to small community-run organisations.

Around 100 organisations each year are successful in obtaining grants usually between £1,000 to £1,500.

The Foundation was established to support capital projects and innovative projects but is unable to assist with running costs or salaries.

In order to apply, 90% of your beneficiaries must be over the age of 65.

Unfortunately, Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies or not for profit organisations which are not registered with the relevant Charity Commission may not apply to this Foundation.

If you are applying for support with a project, please note that it must have been established at least one year before the application. We are unable to support pilot projects.

Applications are considered quarterly and your application may be held over until the next quarter, depending on the discretion of the Trustees.

The Foundation is unable to give grants for:

  • Funding sought in retrospect
  • Buying or leasing transport, ie. minibuses
  • Salaries/staff time
  • Staff training
  • General campaigns/overheads
  • Revenue funding, ie. items for everyday use
  • Building projects in the planning or early stages
  • Laptops/tablets/mobile phones
  • IT which is for the use of administration
  • Rent
  • Petrol/mileage
  • Pilot projects

If your charity has received a donation from this foundation, please wait four years before applying for another grant.
